Inverted nipples are nipples that point inwards and do not remain everted. This can be a source of embarrassment and can cause problems with retained debris, much like a belly button, leading to difficulty with cleaning and sometimes an unpleasant odour.
It is possible to correct this problem with a simple procedure performed under local anaesthetic as a day case. The nipple is released and 2 small triangular flaps of areolar are used to support the nipple to help prevent it from becoming inverted again. A typical result is shown below:
